Monument 3 -Casa Batlló

The  Casa Batlló is a simple reform of a façade of a building on Passeig de Gracia, in Barcelona. thisbuildibg was built in 1875  and they give an opportunity to Gaudí to produce one of his most poetic and inspired artistic compositions.

The  Casa Batlló is a coloristbuilding and it has an undulated surface. The double attic that rises above the facade alludes to animals and legends.

Here we can see Gaudí at the height of his powers  and appreciate the vision of and incredible architect working on a project free of the symbolic.

 

Monument 2- The pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Green Hill

The pilgrimage church at Green Hill is a unique work of art and the most original and individual building designed by the brilliant Bohemian-Italian architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichl in the Baroque Gothic style.

This special church is located in the Czech Republic.

The church is surrounded by cloisters that form a ten-pointed star which protects them from the bad weather (in theory).  And in the middle, we can see that the roof of the church is like a five-pointed star. The relationship between this  star and the ten-pointed star is the tie between the extinct monastery in Nepomuk and the Zdar monastery, where the monks moved after a devastating fire.

Monument 1- Maa – Palaeokastro Settlement

Maa-Palaeokastro, a settlement on the western coast of the island close to Coral Bay, is important for the understanding of the end of the Late Bronze Age in Cyprus.

It used like a protection to the habitants of Maa and it is believed that the site had a specific defensive function.

The fortifications of the settlement consist of two separate walls. The first wall protected the settlement from the land and the second wall offered protection from the sea.

Many archaeologists associate the destruction of Maa and other Late Bronze Age sites, with the appearance of the ‘Sea People’.

Happy new project: “the 3 wonders of Europe”

Our new project is going to be a report about a list and detales of the 3 wonders from Europe. In this new list the wont appear the monuments that everybody knows about, we are going to try finding information about not commun places so the people will know them.

2009 European year of Creativity and Innovation

After reading the test, we understand more or less the main idea. Before reding it, we didn’t what were European Comission, Council and Parliament. We knew the meaning of parlament (a legislative assembly in certain countries) but no exactly the meaning of European parliament that is where they do the laws for European Union between the members of all the countries. Also we knew that it was going to be a year of creativity and innovation because we already read and article about that.

It’s a very especial tradition in Venice. Italians are very careful with the fancy dresses and with the masks. They do unic costumes and that’s why Venice’s carnival is very famous.
